Talking about MSNBC - Judge denies request to reinsert feeding tube

MSNBC - Judge denies request to reinsert feeding tube
Once again we discuss the Terry Schiavo case which has premated the national news media for a while.   I am glad to see that in the wisdom that the Federal Judge in Florida denied Terry Schiavo's parents to reinstall the feeding tube that was meant to keep her alive.

The big ten dollar question here is - Why do the parents keep on hoping she will get better with treatment?  Don't they understand that she is a vegetable and she just lies in a vegetative state.

It is true she is existing, but she is not a live.  She is not able to do anything for herself.  She is not disabled, no, she is brain damaged due to an eatting disorder and we all know what anorexia nervosa or bullimia does to a person's metabolism.

Let us remember Karen Carpenter and what destroyed and finally claimed her life back in Feruary of 1983. Karen also had an eatting disorder and both Agnes and Harold Carpenter were in denial that Karen had psychiatric disorder - one of two different eatting disorders . She had anorexia nervosa.

She took laxatives and tincture if ipec to induce vomiting and to induce her to go to the bathroom to lose all the food she had taken in.

The results of all the years of abuse of her body and dieting was that Karen suffered from a cardiac arrest in her parent's Brentwood home in 1983 and although they tried to restart her heart at the hospital she died.  She was 32 going on 33 years of age on March 2, 1983.

Terry Schiavo had one of two different eatting disorders. Which one was it? Anorexia Nervosa or Bullimia?

It is apparent that Terry as a young woman may have had a serious psychiatric disorder and she like Karen Carpenter became obsessed with her weight.

Terry Schiavo's heart stopped in 1990, due to a chemical inbalance due to this eatting disorder she had.

It does not take a rocket scientist to know that a person's brain can not live without oxygen for more than 3 minutes. If the brain is derived of oxygen and oxygen is not restored to the brain. Brain damage starts to set in.

How damaged the person' s brain is - only a neruologist can say for sure?  However, the majority of medical experts have concurred that Terry Schiavo will not get better and there is no hope for her at all.

I do believe in miracles. However, The Lord would have to provide an awlful large miracle to prove that Terry Schiavo will get better.  I am looking for a total reversal of brain damage.

The last fifteen years Terry has been in a vegetive state. Is it fair to keep her existing in that condition.  It is true that her heart is still beating and she can breath on her own. But that is about all she can.

I wonder how many hours does Terry Schiavo's family spend with her each day at the hospice where she lays in a vegetative state.  Do they read too, talk to her, play music for her, do they massage her ?  Does she respond to any stimuli? Or does she just keep looking up to the ceiling in her room in the hospice.

Terry's Parents may take this to the Federal Appeals Court in Altanta, Georgia and then they may take it to the United States Supreme Court as well.  I am pretty sure that the Federal Appeals Judges will concur that the decision that the federal judge in Florida was right.

I think what many people need to do is judge for themselves if Terry's parents have the right to interfere with their daughter's husband's decision to have the tubes removed.

People need to go down to Florida and visit Terry Schiavo in her hospice room and see if she responds to them and not only to the parents and governmental busy-bodies.

I think it would be a good idea if people would not consider this a "right to life" question.  The right to life has to do with the unborn fetus not someone who is already here and grown up.

Terry's parents are interferring with the sacrament of marriage.  I don't know which part they don't understand but they have no right to interfere with the husband's decisions.

Another big question that comes to mind? How long will it take Terry to die of starvation if she does not have her feeding tubes installed?   Isn't that cruel and long suffering.

How long does it take someone to die after the feeding tubes are removed?  Does any body really know?

I understand why Michael Schiavo wants to have his wife's feeding tubes removed. However, is there another reason behind wanting to have his wife's feeding tubes removed? Is there another alternative motive here? ( Is there another woman involved. Afterall, I am not condoning this- but Michael Schiavo is only a man with a man's needs.)

Michael Schiavo knows that he can not get a divorce.  He has taken Terry for better or for worse, richer or poorer, sickness and health, and until death do we part.( Most states allow a person to file for a divorce after seven years if the spouse has a mental disorder and no substantial progress is made after seven years or if a person is inprisoned and without the possibility of parole or the sentence is longer for seven years).

One can only wonder if Terry's parents do not know the third biggest reason for divorces in the United States.  The third biggest reason for a couple obtaining a divorce is IN LAW problems and interference in the couple's marriage.

One can not wonder if Terry's parents ever read The Bible. Don't they read what Jesus wrote about marriage and divorce in The Gospel of St. Matthew Chapter 19:4-6

And he answered and said unto them

Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, and said, "For THIS CAUSE SHALL A MAN LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND CLEAVE TO THE WIFE AND THEY TWAIN SHALL  ONE FLESH?  Wherefore they are no more twain but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together , let no man put asunder.

I am not surprised on how many parents interefere with their children's marriages.  When a parent does not like the woman or man one of their children are going to get married too. They tend to interfere in the private lives of their married children's lives.

Another question comes to mind.  How much pain can Terry Schiavo actually take?  We know how much pain we can take but we have no clue on how much pain starving Terry will cause her and how much discomfort.

We can not always rely on the Medical Experts opinions. That is all it is an opinion.

Next Stop 11th  U.S.District Circuit Court of Civil Appeals in Altanta, Georgia.  This is a six judge court.

We will see how The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reacts to the legal brief I am sure.

We need to ask the question as well- Who is paying for Terry to stay in hospice?  It costs $200.00 a day just to keep Terry in the hospice and what does that $200.00 a day cover.  It is true that Michael Schiavo was awarded a million dollars for medical malpractice back in 1990. However, if one just uses the calculators and multiplies 200X30days and then multiplies the $600,00 X 15 years she has been there. It is estimated that Michael Schiavo has already spent most of the million dollars he was received on Terry's hospice care and it is just about if not already run out.

Then who is going to pick up the tab for Terry to remain in the hospice and who is going to pay for her care?  Is the government, i.e either Federal or The State of Florida? Is Terry's parents or The Catholic Church?  Good question.

We will wait to see how the 11th U.S. Court of Appeals rules on this case. I hope they will use wisdom and compassion. They need to bring up all the questions I have bought up.

Stay Tune For Further Developments.
